An interior wayfinding solution for a hotel that has to match the ambience of the setting.
What was the customer/designer looking for from a design standpoint?
It was critical that the signs both blend with the setting and give clear information at the same time. The hotel has a lot of rich wood finishes and this needed to be complimented with the signs blending and being practical and informative. The solution was to find a rich based sign system that would perform and blend; Vista's gold anodised profiles were a perfect match.
What were the cost considerations?
Cost was secondary to getting the correct solution. Vista gave an economical solution with a perfect solution to the problem.
What were the delivery considerations?
We needed to complete with in a month. We were assured that even thought the signs were not stock items they could be supplied in time. Vista did everything that was asked of them and supplied hassle free within 3 weeks.
What did the customer request, what needs did they present and what problems did they need solved?
The customer wanted to give the guests an easy to read and informative sign system without being obtrusive. They wanted the signs to be part of the hotel and not stick out like a sore thumb.
What were the most important challenges you faced as a sign maker (cost, delivery time, design functionality…)?
The challenge was to get everything completed in time with minimum fuss. This was achieved with the help of Vista who gave as much information up front to ensure that the project ran smoothly.
What problems did you run in to? (Manufacturing? Price? Technical? …)
By choosing te correct system in the first place, the problems were cut to a minimum and did not disturb the completion of the project.
How did you solve them?
Vista system representatives and the Gryph Group were at hand to help with all problems that arose and to solve all issues before they became troublesome.
How long did it take to complete the project?
Phase 1 was completed in the time given to us by the customer. The next phase will start in early spring and should be completed before the onset of summer.
Describe if and how MCFT played a part in the project.
With all the tools and catalogues supplied to us, it was easy to close the deal. The possibility to show the client samples and to have literature in both English and French helped enormously to the success of the project.
