This is a complete wayfinding system done for a hospital in Kingston, New York.
What was the customer/designer looking for from a design standpoint?
Our client was seeking a new sign system that was easy and cost-effective to update.
What were the cost considerations?
They previously had a system of mis-matched plastic panels with applied pressure-sensitive vinyl graphics. These were costly to maintain and projected a less than professional image. Our new system included the creation of a database, an archive of numerically coded files, software and a large format printer so that they could maintain the signage internally.
How long did it take to complete the project?
The planning of the project, design, focus groups and file preparation took about 8 months. Manufacturing took just 6 weeks. We installed over 150 signs on 5 hospital floors in 5 days using two 2-man crews.
Describe if and how MCFT played a part in the project.
Because Vista's products ship pre-assembled, it saved us a considerable amount of time in the manufacturing process. We were simply able to open the boxes, install the signs and pop in the paper inserts. Vista's partnership on this project was absolutely crucial to the speed at which this project was installed.
