Flag signs also known as protruding signs help people recognize a location quickly, from multiple directions.
They extend outward from the wall, so they work well for storefront visibility, entrances, and indoor/outdoor guidance.
A well-designed flag sign helps people spot a place instantly, without stopping to search.
In our recent project, we created a PIZZA shop sign built on a BOX frame.
We chose a configuration with no internal illumination inside the frame, which keeps the box clean and minimal.
Instead, we applied illumination only to the letters mounted on the BOX structure.
The result is a sharp, modern sign with strong nighttime presence and clear brand focus.

Flag signs can be applied to a wide variety of our sign families.
Most commonly, customers choose our light signs.
We can also produce them in Vista, Square, sharp and other frames.
What is the process required to get a projecting (flag) sign?
Step 1: illuminated vs. non-illuminated
First, you choose illuminated or non-illuminated.
Then you confirm key physical details such as size, mounting method, and viewing direction.
This ensures the sign stays visible at decision points and matches the overall design language.
Step 2: Provide artwork and content (or let us build it with you)
You send your final text, arrows, pictograms, languages, and any brand guidelines.
If you don’t have ready artwork, we can organize and prepare the content with you.
This keeps the message clear, readable, and consistent across the project.
Step 3: Select materials and finishes
Then you choose insert and finish materials based on
durability, aesthetics, and functional needs.
Common options include acrylic, PVC, engraving plastics, photo polymers (raised letters, graphics), polycarbonate, aluminum, and standard laminates.
Step 4: Review and approve the proof (the critical checkpoint)
Before production, you review a structured proof for approval.
You confirm wording, spelling, arrows, languages, placement logic,
and material/finish choices.
Step 5: Delivery and installation readiness
We prepare the signs for delivery and installation.
Because projecting signs are modular, they integrate naturally with a broader system.
You can combine them with suspended signs, wall-mounted signs, pylon signs, and more.
This supports a uniform wayfinding language across the site.
With Vista System’s modular approach, organizations maintain a consistent design language across an entire project and stay flexible as spaces evolve.
Because we can produce this flag sign technology illuminated or non-illuminated, it performs well in bright interiors and in demanding visibility conditions.
